ALYSSA'S ENDEAVORS

Alyssa Cordova joined BCRCD as AmeriCorps Conservation Associate in October 2014

In the summer of 2013 BCRCD became a new Host Site for AmeriCorps members through the Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps Partnership; otherwise known as SNAP. In 2014 BCRCD welcomed Alyssa as our second Conservation Associate with Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps Partnership. During the past two years BCRCD and AMERICORPS has been partnering with local Non-profit organizations for the betterment of Butte County. This year BCRCD is proud to be sharing Alyssa’s time and talents in an AmeriCorps partnership with "Friends of Bidwell Park".

As a member of the Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps Partnership, Alyssa will be conducting watershed restoration projects and providing outreach and education on the importance of natural resource conservation to various county residents. She will also be recruiting volunteers to help her accomplish these efforts to accomplish the goals of BCRCD’s mission to protect, enhance and support Butte County’s natural resources and agriculture. Alyssa is thrilled to be a part of the BCRCD team!

PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS...

partnership benefits wildlife and local 4-H youth

An exciting partnership has been formed between the Butte County Resource Conservation District and the Butte County 4-H Youth Development Program.  Through this partnership nesting boxes are built, sold and distributed to farmers/ranchers and local community.

Each nesting box sold raises funds which go directly back into the 4-H club.  These funds are used to support the many activities the 4-H Youth Development Program offers its members.

4-H youth build the Owl, Duck, Bird and Bat Boxes.  Butte County RCD takes orders and distributes the boxes to farmers and ranchers involved in conservation projects and programs.    Each of these boxes has been designed to provide a suitable cavity for nesting as well as to provide protection from predators. BCRCD also provides specific installation instructions.

The wildlife nesting boxes are available to any county resident interested in providing wildlife habitat on their property.
